Bringing up BSH-Silver-Tabbys „Magic Tabby‘“

Our kittens grow up amid the family and from birth onwards receive plenty of love and devotion. The whole family has a share in forming the kittens’ personalities by conducting, playing and petting them.

When the day of birth approaches our pregnant cats need far more attention than usual. A few hours before birth our permanent presence is required. We make ourselves useful by coaxing the cat, massaging her and giving her the appropriate food. We observe and document each stage of birth. Facts needed in case the help of a vet becomes necessary despite all our efforts to bring about a stress-low birth.

Afterwards the cat’s recovery is  particularly important. We keep the door to the cat’s room shut and minimize our visits. After about 2 weeks the eyes of the kittens are open and they are more mobile. A larger accommodation with a flat litter box is needed.

Soon the kittens’ urge to move and play is so great, that they explore the whole room with all its climbing equipment and games. When a family member settles down on the relaxing chair he or she becomes  part of the fun. This is important to get the kittens used to the contact with human bodies. In the meantime the silver tabbys have got familiar with the noise in the apartment because the door is constantly open. Only a plexi-glass barrier keep the cats from slipping out. As soon as the kittens have learned to use the litter box they are encouraged to enter the living room for a short and longer period of time. After various hours of playing, romping and caressing our silver darlings have gained enough self-assurance toward us and feel save in their surroundings.

Now the cat-tree, the scratching post and swings for the cats can be conquered. The kittens also get acquainted to the objects which are restricted to them, for example the dining room table, the walls, curtains and the bedroom. The question to let a cat enter the bedroom or  not should be decided by the kitten’s new owner.

The company of elder cats help to teach the little ones and make it easier for them to settle down in their new homes. We train our cats to get used to travelling in cars. And using stairs is also soon a routine to them.

Before we give away our kittens (starting from the 12th week) we vaccinate them against cat flu, feline disease and rabbies and de-worm them at least 3 times. If it’s your wish as potential new owner, you can decide on the name entry in the family album. The book holds information on the laboratory tests of the parent animals (FeLV, corona-virus-titer, PKD tests and the blood groups. Along with the kitten we provide you with 3 sorts of their food, brands they are used to, and one of their favourite toys. On the phone I will gladly answer any question arising on feeding, conducting and making the cat feel comfortable in its new home. It goes without saying that we sell our cats with contract, vaccination records and pedigree (Feline Association). When you order a kitten it is customary to fix a contract and pay 1/3 of the price in advance for the pet.
